Chief Curriculum Officer
I have been involved in education spanning various roles ranging from elementary teacher, instructional coach, and university professor. My passion is centered on helping teachers fully engage their students by facilitating instructional practices that encourage critical thinking, problem solving, and authentic opportunities that allow students to use their knowledge in creative and collaborative ways.
I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Arizona University and am researching how literacy-based instructional strategies can help students learn the language of coding. My work includes facilitating quality teaching and learning environments that serve to empower students from all walks of life to understand their reality and ultimately take action to be change-makers in our world.
As the Chief Curriculum Officer at iKidsCode, it is my mission to create and enhance our progressive curriculum in ways that serve to help children grasp computer science foundational concepts, computer skills, and digital safety. Each class is intentionally designed to foster students’ natural curiosity and understanding for gaming, app creation, and web design. My priority is also ensuring that each instructor has the tools they need to be successful in the classroom.
